Cooking Live Animals in Korea and China

Petitioning Mr. Sun Guoxiang

STOP COOKING LIVE ANIMALS

Putting a live dog, or any animal, in boiling water, or a hot oven, or using a blow torch on cats, is not only blatantly wrong, without further explanation---but if one is necessary it is TORTURE.

The 'reason' that is given for cooking animals alive is that they simply "taste better" after their bodies are adrenaline-soaked with fear and pain. 'Taste' is never an excuse for unspeakable cruelty, nor is 'culture' an excuse.

China is making so many strides to become a first world country, but with all due respect, with this kind of accepted culinary method, China AND Korea will be looked upon as backward nations by the rest of the civilized world (one foot in the 21st century and one foot in a primitive age).
Any animal placed in boiling water or cooked, while still alive, in any manner is obviously terrified, in unimaginable pain, despair and doomed to a slow and lingering death.

Animals in the food chain should, at the very least, be given the most humane death possible.
Deepest apologies to the supporters of this petition for this gruesome and offensive photograph -- but their story must be told and the horror is beyond mere words -- this needs to be exposed and make people aware so they will not visit these countries and give them tourist dollars.  China's department of tourism is advertising a lot on TV to attract tourists lately --- we can also write to the National Tourism Department of the People's Republic of China and tell them why we are not visiting.   This over-the-top torture of animals must be outlawed!  If it is hard for us to look upon it, imagine how hard it is for the thousands of dogs, cats, and other species to endure this dark side of man.  Life is certainly not a gift for every living being.

    1. Asian animal cruelty seems to have no limits at all.It is hard to call these people human when they can inflict such torture on animals. It seems part of their culture as the government does not give a damn

  4. As I sit in horror at the atrocities of life, Love comes to me and says not to loose focus.

Love tells me to be absolutely resolute in how I speak and interact with children. To support educational methods that promote love. Schools that include lessons in how to hold a cat, pet a dog, what their needs are and how much love they return and to implore parents to carry that reverence for life they once may have known as a child.

Love says to support programs that have the freedom and problem solving capabilities of Montessori or Reggio Schools, the wisdom of Krishnamurti methods that encourage children how to think, not just what to think and the sweetness of Thich Hat Nanh. Train teachers in these philosophies and lets get loads of them into China, Korea, African Nations, everywhere.

Then work to change laws to make such behavior illegal. It has helped in the USA to have laws against dog and chicken fighting. Horses are more often being trained for riding without the abuses of the past using gentling techniques with love. And at least right now people have stopped eating horses here.

Love says for me to sign this petition and tell all adults I know.

  5. When I saw this photo and article yesterday I was shocked very deeply. I don't cry much but I felt a bit of a 'burst into tears' urge there. I knew they ate various animals in Asia, but this....

I guess if parents just teach their kids that it's normal to do such things, then the kids will just grow into adults who have no regard for the suffering of the animals, and keep doing it blithely.

I've signed her petition, and have notified animal rights/cruelty groups in my country (Australia) about this.

It's good of you to put this stuff out there Ed.

    Wow.

  6. "China is making so many strides to become a first world country"

China and first world country? It's almost like the Noself tries to attain the Self!

Just on the news: An "offspring" controller of the onechild policy in China drove over a little baby and killed it - apparently because it was a second born and the family had no right to have another or second child :((

  8. China, Korea, much of south east Asia do these things, be it this or cutting the fins off live sharks for asnob soup, or persistly draining the bile froma live bear in a body sized cage.
One approach...boycott their goods whenever you can!

  9. China, Korea and south east Asian countries practice the last word in brutality to animals. Boycott their goods, bankrupt them if they won't stop!

    1. Have you ever been to any of these countries? I have travelled them extensively. I saw nothing but kindness. The SE asia countries you are referring to lead the world in education by miles. This is xenophobic nonsense written by those whose job it is to do exactly that.... create a distraction for what is happening at home by talking about ghosts and demons elsewhere.....that dont exist. They are the kindest and nicest people you will meet. I am 12 and travelled right through the countries above and they were so safe and kind in comparison in particular to the horrific western countries we went to. It seems it is easy to distract people with fantasies of pain and demons. That is the saddest part of this all.

    2. well of course they willbe kind to tourists. Take time to view all the videos ( and there are many ) of the unspeakable cruelty inflicted by these countries with no humanity. Look how many ordinary people joined in dog culls beating them to death.Cruelty exists everywhere in animal slaughter but torture is not the usual custom. Where are the animal rights laws in places such as China ?They don t exist because to many of them Fido is just food that seems to taste better after being hung .beaten blowtorched alive. How they can bear to listen to the screams of these animals is beyond many of us but just all in a days work for them

  10. STOP BUYING CHINESE PRODUCTS!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Pretty much every consumer product you buy has at least something from China in it. We are massively dependant on China. A boycott would be worse for us than them.

    1. It wouldn't be worse for us because it would bring back much needed jobs in America! We would learn to depend on ourselves rather than them! We need to be more self sufficient. At the very least, it may stop China from OWNING AMERICA! They own more of America than Americans do and most Americans are not even aware of that dismal fact. We nerd to bring back the MADE IN AMERICA label! I can see nothing negative about that.

  14. Honestly we have no business telling them what they can and can't do, and they aren't going to stop anyway - the more we try to suppress the dog trade the more illicit activities will arise and the worse it will get.

    1. We have every business as fellow sentient beings petitioning the Chinese and Koreans to change their ways. We live in an interdependent Universe. As Christ said what you do to the least, you do it to me. May the dogs in this picture have a higher rebirth and be liberated swiftly. Peace and liberation to all. Om Ah Hung.

  15. Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something.
I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message
home a bit, but instead of that, this is fantastic blog.
A fantastic read. I'll certainly be back.
