Edward, Elon Musk and Donald Trump have broken Social Security’s universal promise. For nearly a century, Social Security has paid benefits in full and on time every month. Through wars, pandemics, and recessions, we have been able to count on Social Security. But because of DOGE cuts, we are hearing reports from people whose benefits are being terminated without warning:1 Others are being erroneously declared “dead”:2 For every one of these stories, there are at least 10 more people who don’t get in touch with reporters.
